"All Hail Nicki"
I've always had a lot of respect for Mc Lyte because she's always so chill, down to earth and she's intelligent. Here's her speaking VERY high of Nicki at Millersville University.
"My view on Nicki Minaj is that she is a smart, business woman. I feel like creatively, she is a mesh, a sweet tea of Mc Lyte, of Salt n Pepa, of Eve, of Kim, of Foxy, of everyone that has existed before. We all have followed the steps of such great female emcees. There's no way that I can ever say that I wasn't influenced by Salt n Pepa. And she gives homage. She says she's been influenced by the female emcees. But she's also been influenced by a certain genre of music that many of us love but never put it as a part of our music; and that's pop culture. ... Nicki Minaj had the guts, the balls, to take that 80s pop music and mesh it with the hip hop of today. And that's why I think that she is an intelligent business woman. She's not out to fight and rumble. She's an intelligent woman. I've seen her in interviews; she knows exactly what her plan is and it's working. And people ask me, do I think she's influencing a nation of people. Actually, I think they've already influenced HER. And that's why she is the way she is. If it's art imitating life or life imitating art. ... so when I look at a scenario like Nicki, I just say, 'God, female emcees are still on the map.' And if she's the one to garner their attention, so be it. All Hail Nicki."
